Orlando Police Officer Arrested for DUI, Released Without Bond
Posted on Jan 20, 2014 4:50pm PST
January 19th, around 6:00 p.m., an Orlando police officer was arrested for suspected DUI. During the arrest process the off-duty police man became violent. He was found with an open container in the front seat next to him as he was in the driver seat. Officers who were arresting him were forced to remove a handgun from the off-duty man for safety reasons.
He was brought to jail after he refused to take a sobriety test and denied that he had been drinking. At the jail, he was reportedly combative, even dislocating the window of a patrol car. A nurse determined that he was physically too drunk to be cleared to be booked in jail. He was taken to an emergency room and given medication to calm him down.
Released on His Own Recognizance
Though a judge found serious evidence suggesting DUI and criminal mischief charges, the officer was released on his own recognizance without having to pay bond. In most cases, individuals charged with DUI will have to post bail by paying a bond–a set fee decided by the court.
While the off-duty officer was let off without having to pay any bond, you may find yourself or a loved in in more unfortunate circumstances. Orlando DUI prosecutors can be tough, especially on regular residence.
